Featuring The Art of Conversation
Communication extends beyond spoken words. It exists through movement, expression, attention, and shared understanding.
As a Deaf artist, I experience conversation as a visual and human connection. The Space Between Words explores that experience through The Art of Conversation, a 48-panel installation that invites viewers to slow down, observe, and discover meaning between people rather than only within language.
Rather than following a beginning or an end, visitors are encouraged to enter the installation from any point and create their own path through the work.
The Art of Conversation is a 48-panel installation composed of individual 18 × 18 inch works created with spray paint and printed rice paper on wood panels.
Each panel represents a moment within a conversation—a gesture, a pause, a response, or a shift in understanding. Viewed individually, each artwork offers its own interpretation. Together, the panels create a larger visual dialogue that reflects the complexity of human communication.
Like conversation itself, the installation has no single starting point or conclusion. Visitors are invited to move freely through the work, discovering relationships and connections from their own perspective.
The images below represent selected panels from The Art of Conversation.
The complete 48-panel installation is currently on view as part of The Space Between Words at UC San Diego Park & Market.
