Deaf Key II: Revisiting the Work, Expanding the Meaning
Apr 17, 2026
In 2019, I created Deaf Key—a piece rooted in identity, access, and visual language within the Deaf experience. The original artwork and its limited edition fine art prints were collected and now live beyond the studio.
Over time, I found myself returning to it.
Years later, I revisited Deaf Key with a different perspective.
Not to recreate it.
Not to repeat it.
But to see it again with growth and clarity.
As an artist, your work evolves with you. What once felt complete can begin to open into something more.

The idea of a “key” became more layered.
A key opens something.
A key gives access.
A key is essential.
This shift expanded the meaning of the work—moving beyond form into a deeper connection with communication, understanding, and presence.
This led to Deaf Key II.
It is not a remake.
It is a continuation.
The composition and intention have been reworked—guided by time, experience, and a stronger connection to visual language.
Where Deaf Key introduced the idea, Deaf Key II expands it.
Revisiting past work is part of the process.
It reflects growth, reflection, and a clearer direction forward.
The work does not stay fixed.
It evolves as the artist evolves.
Deaf Key II will be released on April 17.
This new work builds on the original—refined, expanded, and seen through a new lens.
